Meditation: Yoga With Adriene, Meditation to Start Your Day Length: 7 minutes Where: On Meditation Cushion in Bedroom, Los Angeles How It Felt: Accomplished
Rushing a bit today, so another quick blog!
Yesterday I decided to do my meditation almost first thing in the morning, after some yoga. It felt so amazing! Mornings are so cluttered and rushed usually, so it feels like a big accomplishment when I fit in any activity besides “walk around like a zombie” or “rush to get myself dressed and out the door.”
I was doing a morning yoga video with my favorite online yoga teacher, Adriene (not favorite IRL- that award probably goes to the incomparable Sarah Bibbó here in LA, though I’ve been lucky to have many amazing instructors over the years!) If you still haven’t checked out Yoga With Adriene, do it immediately. Youtube or Prime are good places to start. She’s brilliant.
I finished my workout and noticed a morning meditation with Adriene cued up next, so I decided to try it. Keep things fresh, you know. Mix it up.
It was also right there and only seven minutes long, so perfect for the moment. You know- mornings? Rushing? That whole thing.
As I’ve written many times before, if all I do in a meditation is breathe, relax my shoulders and jaw, and remind myself to say “thank you” for something, I’m happy with it. Hell, if all I do is breathe it’s a win! So, seven minutes was quick, but it felt wonderful.
I’ve realized meditating after yoga feels almost like an extended Shavasana. It feels so good physically, mentally, emotionally, etc, sort of like the best kind of power nap. I need to do that more often.
Rushing off, but check out YWA! Can’t recommend enough! She’s a big goofy nerd in the best way, and makes you feel so welcome and relaxed, even from a prerecorded video. Just the best. You won’t regret it!
