Meditation: Calm, Deep Sleep

How It Felt: Frustrating

I thought I had it all figured out.

I discovered the ability to “favorite” certain meditations on both the Headspace and Calm apps recently, and I’ve been using it! I have struggled with finding the sleep meditations I like most on the Calm app, because I don’t like the ones that make you tense your muscles then release. I like to just have a nice, even body scan, as I’ve written in the past.

I spent some time going through them all one day until I found the one (I thought) I liked most. I thought I was so prepared! When you’re trying to drift off to sleep, the last thing you want to do is stare at a bright screen trying to work out which session you should do, realizing it’s wrong, trying another….

You just want to get to sleep!

So, I favorited one. I favorited it in every length- 5 minutes, 30 minutes, and everything in between. Genius.

I turned it on last night and settled in for a relaxing time.


So, I stared at a bright screen, working out which session I should do. Trying another. WHY.

By the time I found it I only wanted five minutes. I was frustrated. Luckily, I did fall asleep.

Lesson of the day: take extra time to get things set up correctly! It saves so much time and headache down the line.
