Meditation: Balance, Foundations: Day 5
Length: 5 minutes
Where: Bedroom, Los Angeles
How It Felt: Uplifting
Yesterday I was up at 4:30am. I worked from 7am until 4pm. I drove home, showered, changed, and we went to Los Feliz for a friend’s birthday dinner, a friend who is more like a brother to me- one of the very first people I met after moving to LA. This person shaped my life in immeasurable ways, and there was no way I was missing his big night.
The hosts, more recent dear friends, live in a gorgeous home in the hills with a view to die for. The conversation was fascinating and funny and involved lots of great storytelling, discussions about art and film, catching up on each others’ lives, and- my favorite- listening to the endlessly riveting stories of the guest of honor’s grandmother- one of the classiest, feistiest, wisest women I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. It was the kind of night I live for- great food (involving many kinds of cheese, homemade bread, and vegetarian lasagna!), flowing wine, and wonderful people.
I did not want to leave- we had so much fun! But my 5am wake up time today finally got the best of me, and we left around midnight, sad to break up the party, to leave that magic behind.
I did a short but effective meditation before bed, returning to the Foundations series from the Balance app. Back to basics, simple and straightforward. The perfect rest break for my overtired and overworked mind. No big, deep lessons, just repetition of the same building blocks and simple tools I’ve been working on all year. Easy and stress free.
I think I’ll do another one of those before bed now. With my husband this time.
I do love the little trivia bits they provide before the sessions begin. I took a screenshot of one of the pieces of wisdom I felt was worth reminding myself about. I am still loving the curated feel of this app. Big thumbs up.
Now time to sleep again! And no early alarm tomorrow- joy!!
