Meditation: Calm, Daily Trip: How Meditation Changes You Length: 10 minutes Where: Bedroom, Los Angeles How It Felt: Inspiring
As I wrote yesterday, I’ve been feeling a little burned out on this experiment. Not on the meditation part, necessarily- I’m happy to meditate every day- but on the stress of making sure I meditate every single day no matter what, and on the commitment to writing about each one.
So, when I was deciding which meditation to do before bed, I stopped when I saw the Daily Trip on the Calm app, called “How Meditation Changes You.” I thought it might be a good idea to remind myself of the bigger picture, of why I’m really doing this. It isn’t just an exercise in persistence. It’s learning to integrate a new habit into my life that will make things better for myself and everyone around me.
Meditation really has changed me. It’s made me so much less reactive, given me more patience and empathy, helped me understand so much about myself and why I do what I do, what I need to work on, what I need to let go. It’s an incredibly powerful tool. I maybe lost sight of that for a moment, but this session was a great reminder.
Rainy, grey day in Los Angeles today, but it’s kind of nice. We need the rain, and I’m feeling cozy, like getting stuff done around the house. Steve is off working on a shoot over the hill, and I am currently making myself a nice frittata, doing tons of laundry, catching up on work emails, and getting ready to take a long, hot shower. It’s so lovely.
Grateful for all the new perspective I’ve gained this year, and excited to continue the journey!
